There is a gemmy coating on the twin stalactite that appears blue in room light and green in sunlight. The specimen has dense malachite with a sparkling surface and pockets of azurite on the bottom. The stalactites were formed in trap rock of weathered ore deposits capping copper veins. The malachite stalactite from Congo is 3 inches tall by 2 1/2 inches wide by 1 5/8 inches deep and weighs 8 3/4 ounces.
