Turritella Fossil Gastropods

Turritella are gastropods that have been present from the Cretaceous Period through to the present with a wide distribution. The elongated cones have arched whorls with deep sutures between. This highly silicated specimen is loaded with turritella shells with some 7/8 inch intact shells. The fossil Turritella fancy cutting rough when oriented for sectioned swirls of white shell in the dark matrix rock. Most rocks are fist size. Three pound minimum. Never grind, sand or polish turritella when dry. The shell dust is hazardous.
