hold gray calcite crystals topped with blue celestine and white strontianite
(strontium carbonate) in steeply terminated bypyramidal crystals and
in white spiky spheres consisting of bundled needle crystals. Several
1 inch blocky tabular celestite crystals on one corner and scattered
1/4 inch crystals all over the 5 1/4 by 4 1/2 by 1 1/8 inch specimen. |

1/4 inch, spherical bundled needle crystals of strontianite (strontium
carbonate) on drusy calcite and celestine (strontium sulfate). The
Tonolaway limestone layer (410million year old), is riddled with openings
and capped by harder limestone, lineament fractures were filled with
hot solutions that deposited and then altered strontium, limestone,
and calcite into strontianite. Strontianite is 70.1% strontium and
29.9% carbon dioxide with trace of calcium. |
