Mexico is interlocking cubic crystals up to 1 1/4 inch across with
telescoping cubic structures on the faces. This is caused by a decreasing
amount of mineral solution at the later stages of development. The

impurities from iron during smelting. Most Cave-in-Rock specimens

from Blanchard Mine, Bingham, New Mexico is composed of layers of
sheet quartz and blue fluorite. Transparent blue fluorite cubes,
with many interpenetrating twins, average from 3/8 to 5/8 inch,
some have a tint of pink. Lustrous blue fluorite cubes cover all
sides, and in vugs of the 8 inch by 6 inch by 3 inch, massive cabinet
specimen. If exposed to sunlight for extended periods the blue will
turn pink. |
