3 1/2 inch clear beryl crystals in paralell formation with muscovite
mica,
clear spodumene crystal, 2 by 5/8 by 1/4 inch
1 1/2 by 5/8 by 5/16 inch faden quartz crystal,
1 3.8 inch rounded specimen has transparent light green tourmaline
prisms in booked crystals of pink lepidolite,
green prehnite crystal casts, 2 1/4 by 1 1/4 by 1 inch,
1 inch green peridot crystal cluster,
at the center a 1/2 inch red almandine crytal on a piece of schist
rock.
2 by 1 1/2 by 1 1/4 inch mineral specimen
of white albite feldspar and clear quartz holds a lustrous blue aquamarine
crystal, 7/8 by 11/16 by 11/16 inch. The aquamarine has a horizontal
reflective inclusion that bisects the prism.
White feldspar with clear plates of
cleavelandite hold a one inch aquamarine prism that changes to milky
pink at the top (morganite). Small red garnets are scattered on one
side of the2 3/4 by 2 1/2 by 2 inch mineral specimen,
A 1 3/8 inch deep blue aquamarine is
embedded in feldspar and quartz with areas of black metallic blems.
There is a grouping of twinned phenakite crystals (top of photo) that
are slightly corroded. Location: Hunza, Pakistan
1 3/8 inch by 9/16 inch aquamarine crystal
is a vibrant shade of blue. The opaque aquamarine is embedded in albite
feldspar with mica and a few tiny black prisms, 2 inch by 1 1/4 inch
by 7/8 inch. Location: Hunza, Pakistan.
2 1/2 inch by 2 1/4 inch by 2 inch
thick specimen is cleavlandite albite crystals filled with black tourmaline
crystals including a 1 3/4 inch tourmaline prism. The tourmaline is
embedded below a 3/4 inch by 9/16 inch light blue, icy beryl that
is centered in a bed of stocky clear quartz crystals. To the left
of the black tourmaline crystals is a gemmy light blue aquamarine
crystal. The quartz crystals are clear with mirror flashes on faces
that have horizontal quilted striations. Location: Hunza, Pakistan
Smoky lamellar crystals are transparent
with vertical striations and shiny vitreous luster. The flat crystals
are oriented in all directions. The striation are visible through
many layers giving an etched appearance to this assemblage of ferroaxinate
crystals. 2 1/2 by 1 5/8 by 1 inch. ferroaxinate is found in contact
zones in granite, hydrous calcium iron manganese,borosilicate.
The white beryl hexagon crystal is 3/4
inch across. 3/4 inch is above the albite feldspar matrix and remnants
of beryl with unusual crystal forms are on the reverse side. Some
books of mica and other crystals are also present on the1 7/8 inch
by 2 inch by 1 1/4 inch Hunza, Pakistan.
2 1/2 inch pegmatite mineral specimen,
a globular cluster of stained (probably with hematite) albite feldspar
crystals that holds a 3/4 inch group of columbite crystals. The columbite
has the typical resinous luster, iridescence and is high specific
gravity. Columbite contains rare earth minerals nobium and tantalum.
Green diopside crystals are light green
and dark chrome green flat prisms with pointed terminatios.Crystals
up to 1/2 inch long cover on side of the specimen. The bottom side
is solid and fibrous, possibly cabochon cutting material. 2 inch by
1 3/4 inch by 1 1/2 inch thick
Clear dark green diopside in prisms
and spearhead shaped crystals up to 3/8 inch long form the 1 3/4 by
1 3/4 by 2 1/4 inch mineral specimen with cut flat base
Dark green epidote crystals are spear
head shaped crystals in fanned groups. The lustrous epidote specimen
is 2 1/2 by 1 1/2 by 1 1/8 inch thick. Alkaline calcium iron silicate.
This Pakitan epidote may have come from shrinkage seams in granite.
3/4 inch crystals in a 2 1/2 by 11 1/2 by 1 1/8 inch thick mineral
specimen.
4 1/2 inch by 4 inch by 2 1/2 inch Pakistan
mineral specimen is a blocky 2 1/2 inch feldspar crystal with a smaller
crystal perpendicular. Clear quartz crystals rise above the large
feldspar crystals. A few of the quartz crystals have small chips at
the tips.
Lustrous cranberry red, Spesserite garnets
are in a matrix of darker garnet, mica and other dark high iron low
silicate mineral crystals. The top of the Pakistan mineral specimen
has a frosting of drusy quartz. 1/4 inch garnet in 1 1/2 inch by 1
1/2 inch matrix.
The 31 gram crystalline mass has a matrix
of garnet and peridot. Well-formed, orange-brown crystals are present
on one face of the 1 1/4 inch by 1 1/4 inch by 7/8 inch garnet specimen
from Pakistan. The garnet interior produces luminous sparks. The exterior
is crisp crystal faces with a mirror finish.
Red Almandine gasrnets with a few small
orange spesserite garnets are in quartz and feldspar matrix. The mineral
specimen from Gilgit Pakistan has a main grouping of garnet crystals
that are 3/4 inch by 3/8 inch with an overall size of 2 1/4 inch by
1 1/2 inch by 1 1/4 inch. There is a flat side cut for easy display.
Albite Feldspar Crystal is 2 inch by
1 1/2 inch. The complex pegmatite mineral specimen from Pakistan has
gemmy blue tourmaline, three sets of twinned phenakite crystals, and
corroded columbite with other micro crystals of rare earth minerals.
Lazurite (lapis) crystals up to 1/2
inch are embedded in marble. The Afghan mineral specimen has been
saw trimmed to 3 inch by 1 3/4 inch by 1 1/4 inch.
Lazurite (lapis) crystal 1/2 inch is
embedded in marble, lapis and pyrite matrix. The Afghan mineral specimen
is 3 1/2 inch by 2 1/2 inch by 1 3/4 inch.
Lithium pegmatite three mineral specimen
for Pakistan. A flat base of lavender lepidolite mica has a bubbly
top surface that holds green tourmaline prisms and quartz crystals.
3 by 3 1/4 by 1 inch thick.
Translucent green prehnite crystals
are cast over anhydrite needle crystals. The one inch casts are part
of the 2 1/2 by 2 1/2 by 1 3/4 inch thick Pakistan mineral specimen.
3 1/4 by 3 1/2 by 1 3/4 inch thick green
prehnite mineral specimen has 1 inch long stalactites. Prehnite is
translucent taking on a warm glow in bright light. Prehnite precipitates
in gas pockets of basalt.
This cabinet size specimen will complement other fine minerals in
a display setting.
Inside the clear light smoky quartz
crystal are window panes faces, some with mineral inclusion, showing
the complex structure of the single crystal with cascading elestial
faces on the sides and one termination end that split into a circle
of terminated prisms (bottom right photo). The other termination has
an opening into the hollow window pane structure. This fascinating
quartz crystal from Pakistan is 1 3/4 by 1 3/8 by 1 1/8 inch. The
natural crystal surfaces are smooth and shiny as gemstone facets.
A 3/8 in pyritohedron crystal in calcite
and a 3/4 globular cluster of pyrite crystals from Pakistan. Only
one in the thumbnail photo. Click on photo to see both pyrites.
1 3/8 by 1 inch pyrite crystal is imbedded
in calcite matrix. The metallic pyritohedron crystal was formed inside
the country rock. The exposed face has many irregular surface features.
The calcite has cleavage faces in stepped formations and is specked
with phlogopite mica. 4 1/4 by 3 by 2 inch.
Clear spudomene, a lithium mineral,
is a two inch striated crystal accompanied my moonstone and numerous
micro crystals. The spudomene fluoresce red to lilac. The lithium
pegmatite mineral specimen from Pakistan is 2 1/2 inch by 2 1/2 inch
by 2 inch.
The Gilgit, Pakistan mineral specimen
is a quartz crystal on albite feldspar. Parallel quartz crystals capped
with a secondary termination are attached to the main quartz crystal.
The quartz is pierced by four elbaite tourmalines. Three of the tourmalines
are clear green, one is dark green. Axinite crystals coat the specimen
and are included in the quartz. 2 ¼ inch by 1 5/8 inch by 7/8
inch.
Clear flat faden quartz crystal has
multiple terminations. The 1 7/8 inch by 1 3/4 inch by 3/4 inch thick
faden quartz crystal weighs 63 grams. Faden quartz is fractured from
ground movement and then healed.
The cluster of flat quartz crystals
are set in jagged row with a 3/4 inch crystal perched on top. That
crystal has a destinct healed fracture. The faden quartz cluster from
Pakistan is 1 3/4 by 1 1/4 by 1 inch.
Double terminated skeletal quartz crystals
are clear and slight smoky. The crystals are joined at the tips or
the tip is piercing the side of the neighboring crystal and form a
square. Mineral included panes form a series of fins. These unusual
qualities produce on exceptional quartz display. 2 1/2 inch by 2 1/8
inch by 1 inch.
A 2 inch quartz crystal is lying in
a bed of mineral encrusted, small slender quartz crystals. Chalcopyrite
is present in small metallic crystals as well has a coating on the
quartz. The top half is clear with vertical blade inclusions that,
when added to the mineral coating, produces glittering flashes of
light.
Frosted clear quartz crystals (groups
of crystals joined together into steep pointed formations) with lustrous
black tourmaline crystals and white feldspar in small glittering crystals.
2 1/2 by 2 by 1 1/2
The Afghanistan mineral specimen is
a 1 1/2 inch by 2 inch by 1 inch thick marble matrix that hold several
deep pink rubies the largest being a 1/2 inch twin.
The Afghan ruby in matrix is a 1 3/4
inch by 1 3/8 inch by 3/4 inch thick marble matrix that holds a group
of rubies 3/4 inch by 3/8 inch with 1/4 inch thickness exposed. The
rubies are a deep shade of pink and translucent.
1 inch by 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch ruby
and several accompanying rubies have blue areas at the tips. Afghan
rubies in matrix is 1 1/2 inch by1 1/8 inch by 5/8 inch
The 1 inch by 3/8 inch group of reddish
purple rubies from Jagdalek, Afghanistan are in a hornfelde matrix
formed in impure marble adjacent to an igneous contact zone.
Ruby crystal in calcite from Pakistan
is a perfect octahedron with one flat termination. Without calcite
matrix, the ruby crystal is 11/16 by 1/2 by 3/4 or 17 by 12 by 19mm.
2 1/2 inch by 1 1/2 inch by 1 inch piece
of light igneous rock, peppered with metallic crystals has a fold
holding several titianite crystals. yellow-green titianite crystals
(a titanium mineral) up to 1/2 inch are in an elongated diamond shape
with beveled edges. Location Gilgit, Northern Pakistan.
Clear topaz and black tourmaline in
plates of albite feldspar are 2 1/2 by 2 3/4 by 2 1/2 inch. 1 1/2
by 1 1/2 by 3/4 topaz crystal with a 1 3/4 by 1 1/2 by 2 inch black
tourmaline crystal.
The cluster of flat triangular feldspar
crystals holds several dark green tourmalines. The 1/2 inch tourmalines
have a distinct tubular structure, they are dark green, and have lighter
area at the tips. There is a small area around the twinned tourmaline
that has small orange spesserite garnet crystals. 1 1/2 inch by 1
inch.
The solid mass of dark blue tourmaline
or indiolite is surrounded with clear blue tourmaline crystals. 1
1/2 inch by 1 1/8 inch by 1 inch. groupings of slim 1/4 inch quartz
prisms are on the top surface. The interior has potential for gemstone.
1 1/4 inch long blue tourmaline crystal
is in albite feldspar moonstone. The 1 inch by 3/4 inch wide tourmaline
is dark gemmy blue color. The prism exterior shows the blue color
and tubular crystal structure. The back side shows structural integrity
that indicates this could be a cut into gemstones.
Clusters of green tourmaline crystals
in white albite feldspar crystals is 2 1/2 by 1 5/8 by 1 3/4 inch.
The rich green tourmaline on white feldspar is an impressive mineral
display.
3 3/8 inch by 1 7/8 inch by 1 5/8 inch
mineral specimen is blocky feldspar crystals and clear quartz prisms
that hold a 9/16 inch wide sheave of opaque green tourmaline crystals.
A group of small black tourmaline make
a bed for larger prisms that form spray 2 by 1 by 7/8 inch. The ends
of the prisms are individual terminations of the tubular crystal structure.
Slender shiny black tourmalines are
complete, undamaged crystals. The 4 inch by 1 1/2 inch by 1 1/2 mineral
specimen is a sheave of crystals composed of smaller bundles. Stacks
of flat cleavelandite with pointed terminations and poker chip shapes
are lying on their sides as stepped formations.
Two clear quartz crystals form a vee
shape that is near 90 degrees. The smaller 1 1/4 inch crystals is
grown around a triangular black tourmaline crystal. The 7/8 by 7/16
by 3/8 inch black tourmaline prism has heavy striations that send
light rippling across the bright faces. The large quartz crystal is
2 3/4 by 1 1/4 by 1 inch. The total size of the Pakistan mineral specimen
set on its flat side is 2 3/4 inch by 1 inch by 1 1/2 inch.
2 by 1 1/2 by 1 3/4 feldspar crystal
and piece of smoky tipped quartz has a 1 1/8 by 3/8 by 3/8 inch black
tourmaline prism crystal with tri faced termination.
1 1/8 inch thick by 1 by 1 1/4 inch
long schorl prism is surrounded by round sheaves of albite felspoar
crystals and topped with lepidolite mica. 2 1/4 by 2 by 1 1/4 inch.
68 gram, 1 1/2 inch by 1 1/2 inch by
1 inch inch, dravite mineral specimen is from Northern Pakistan. The
striated crystals are nonterminated, semi translucent, and lustrous
green-gold color. Two main dravites are parallel with several crossing
the front face. A drusy crust covers the back of the dravite crystal
group.
Slender green tourmalines up to 3/4
are accompanied by quartz crystals in a chalky matrix. The Pakistan
mineral specimen is 1 7/8 inch 1 1/2 inch by 1 inch.
58 gram topaz is several crystals with
albite feldspar in between. Flashing striated faces and gemmy areas
highlight the clear topaz mineral specimen from Pakistan. 2 inch by
1 3/8 inch by 1 1/4 inch.Alternating images.
